Langkawi Boatyards, Repairs & Maintenance
There are several boatyards in Langkawi some having haul out facilities for all kinds of yachts including mega yachts. However, in most marinas the repairing jobs are done through third party contractors unless you want to do it yourself.
You should be careful while contracting out a job, particularly when you are absent while the job is carried out. In several instances in Langkawi, the quality of repair jobs done by 3rd party contractors have been found to be sub par and in several other instances, the bills charged have been very high.
So always document the job requirement and specifications in details and take a firm quotation from the vendor before the work starts. This will help avoid any surprises at a later stage.

Boatyards in Langkawi
WaveMaster Yacht Center, Langkawi
This is one of the largest boatyards located in Kuah town with modern boat repairing & refit facilities. The boatyard is ideal for both mega and mid sized yachts and ferries. They have their Head Office in Australia. The minimum depth of water here is 7 meters.
The facilities include:
Two travelifts - 140 & 500 tons.
About 17,000 sq.m. area for hard stand.
2 insulated & ventilated hangers, each with an area of 70x25m and height of 24m, and capacity of 800 tons.
Other facilities within the complex include carpentry, aluminum, electrical & mechanical workshops. Each of these workshops has its own remote controlled crane with lifting capacity of 1.5 tons.
They also have berthing facilities for yachts between 13 - 70 meters along with required amenities like fresh water, toilets & showers, power, etc.

Rebak Island Marina
This is located in a small island Pulau Rebak Besar off the western shore of the main island. The hardstand here is ideal for do-it-yourself repairing work. However they won't let you do heavy and noisy repair or refitting work here. There are also onsite contractors who may be appointed for the repair work.
Facilities includes:
Travelift for boats up to 65 tons & beam of 8.2 meters.
Two-way haul out.
Pressure wash.
Boat stand.
Scaffolding, ladder, crane hire by the hour etc.
Metered water and electricity.

B&V Marine Sdn
Offers good repair facilities for medium size yachts including machining, welding, glasswork, painting etc. You can also do the repairing yourself and get free technical advice. They have haul out facility for small yachts done using a 35 ton crane.
The facility is located next to Boustead Yard and on Kuah Canal located between the Malaysian Navy and WaveMaster Yacht Center. They can also store boats and provide water & electricity along with security coverage.

They are one of the best (and probably the only true) Chandlery in Langkawi supplying a wide range of spares and other items for marine applications. Located in Kuah close to the main traffic lights and next to Pier Restaurant.
